Greeting from beautiful downtown Philomont, population 207, where the loudest noise is the birds and an occasional complaining cow. Looking up I see Orion moving overhead from the southeast and Big Dipper disappearing over the northern horizon. These are telling me the next Academy meeting is six months away and it has been six months since Calgary.

Speaking of Calgary, what a terrific meeting! We inducted a most impressive group of new Associates. Their contributions to prosthodontics have had a profound impact on the specialty. Howard Landesman and his committee deserve long and loud applause for putting together a dynamic, informative, scientific program evidenced by the packed hall and lively discussions. Brock Love and his committee more than lived up to Academy tradition by arranging a superb social calendar highlighted by the trip to Banff. Unfortunately, only two of us found the hot springs. Imagine sitting in a hot pool being showered by snow flakes. It was delightful. We stayed in the pool so long we almost missed the bus.

The Council met in New York following the College meeting because many of us were in New York and we saved the expense of a meeting in Chicago. The Council reviewed the meeting in Calgary and was encouraged by its success scientifically, socially and financially. Plans for Quebec City were reviewed and debated. The outcome promises an outstanding meeting. Dick Grisius and his committee in conjunction with Education and Research have put together an exciting program. Our guest fee is still two hundred ninety five dollars (U.S.), so our meeting is still the biggest bargain in prosthodontics. Invite your guests early.

Quebec City is a city full of things to do and it was difficult for the Council to decide what social events to schedule. We promise a great time and bring your appetite. The food is fabulous.

It is a humbling experience being president of this very personal organization. I want to thank all you for giving me the opportunity. On va se voir a Quebec.
